Week 18 (Back in the Pool)

So I finally found a pool that is close by. The one I had been going to has been closed down for some time and opens later next week. This does not help me since that would only leave me a few more days of training for the swim before the first event.

Was going to bike there this morning but decided against it while eating my oatmeal before leaving. Figured I’d drive down and check the place out and if it was a bad idea i could just hop in the car and get to the gym for a quick workout. Got there and it was fine, although the pool itself was small and dirty. Not what I had pictured for a college facility.

Overall i was VERY happy with my swim. My technique stayed intact if not improved over the break and I was able to do consecutive 500 meter swims non-stop. This boosted my confidence for doing my first open water swim. I can’t wait to jump in the ocean next weekend.

Week 18

Ok, So i took Tue. and Wed off this week and gave my body some much needed and well deserved rest. Got up early again this morning and got right back to it.
20 minutes on the Elliptical

15 minutes on the Treadles

25 minutes running = 2.1 miles

My left calf/ shin area has been tender  and I’m wondering if this relates to the knee surgery i had a few years back. It seems to work itself out into the run but then it’ll be pretty tender the rest of the day and into the next. I need to step up my running program for the next few weeks and the first event is June 24th. so far I’m not very concerned but it is in the back of my head.

I purchased my wet suit today and it should be here early next week. I need to do an open water swim next weekend just to get it out of the way.my wet suit

Also found a new pool to train at. Too bad i didn’t find this one a few weeks ago when the pool i usually go to closed down for renovations. Anyway they have evening lap swim and early morning lap swim and is a good riding distance from the house so I’m sure this weekend I’ll ride ride the bike over and get some much needed time in.

Week 18

Almost forgot, i picked up my new bike for doing all these Triahlons last week.

The guys at Hollywood Pro Bikes on Hollywood Blvd were OUTSTANDING! I can’t say more about this little shop and the amount of service i got from them. They will continue to receive my business and I’ll tell as many people as I can about them.

Week 18

Still hittin’ it strong.

I’ve slowed down on the blogging only because I’ve spent so much time utilizing and learning about a great web site that tracks all of my training.

With this web site I track and record all of my workouts and races and they also have an amazing forum section that i’ve been able to learn so much from.

I’ll try to keep this blog as a running photo gallery and update center.

Here’s my totals for last week. Although this was the first week i learned how to use all of the tools on the  beginner triathlete site.
